Again the summer drives me to think of getting out of town, and fortune has given me some good opportunities to do so. The parts i look forward to the most are vacation periods with Marcela and Ruby. I feel such ambivalence when i try to plan long periods away from my beloved town, but once the ball is rolling i will see the value of new sights, sounds, and friends. I'm frustrated at the pace of production around here. I started a string quartet video, and i started a new quartet recording. Neither are finished, but i HAVE also started 3 new compositions, and i think when Ruby begins school in january i will finally have the homework time i need to complete some of these. New Orleans is alive with astounding new art and music, and i feel glad to be here during this time. more soon! |
